Hinchingbrooke Country Park | Huntingdon Park Run

Sat, 29 Feb 2020 09:00

The first ever Huntingdon Park Run on a leap year... another Giant Leap for mankind …

Join us on 29th February and become part of parkrun history. Since parkrun started in 2004, there has never been a parkrun on 29th February or the opportunity to complete 5 parkruns in the month of February. Before you all reach for Google, the last time a Saturday fell on 29th February was in 1992 (BP – before parkrun – yes apparently there was a world before parkrun). And if you think you'll give this one a miss and just wait for the next one, well it won't happen again until 2048 – see you all there too!!

To commemorate, please join us and help turn the park frog green. We aim to have special leap spot on the course to record the event too.

Cromwell Museum | The Trial of Charles I

Cromwell Museum | The Trial of Charles I

Sat, 29 Feb 2020 10:30

The Trial of Charles I

29-02-20 - 29-02-20,
10:30 AM - 5:00 PM

Admission: ££10 per person

Location: Huntingdon Town Hall

The Cromwell Museum is staging dramatised performances recreating the tumultuous events of the trial of King Charles I in January 1649, to be held in the atmospheric surroundings of one of the historic courtrooms in Huntingdon Town Hall.

Working with members of the Sealed Knot historical re-enactment society, and using original trial records from the Parliamentary Archives, the Museum has produced an edited and dramatised version of the trial, which will be recreated with all the key figures including King Charles I and Oliver Cromwell being played by amateur actors.

The trial is an immersive experience – so whilst there is a narrator who will introduce and interject into the performance, there will be members of the cast interspersed with the audience, who will heckle the trial and cause some disturbance, as the audience at the real trial did, so be warned!

When this was held in 2019, the performances all sold out - book early to avoid disappointment!

Performances are at 10.30am, 12noon, 2.30pm and 4pm. The performances last just over an hour each.
