Buckden's Summer Fundraiser for Parkinson's UK

Buckden's Summer Fundraiser for Parkinson's UK

Sat, 31 Aug 2019 15:00

Buckden's summer fundraiser for Parkinson's UK – August 31 2019

A Buckden woman has organised a charity Parkinson's UK's summer fundraiser and will be holding a Live Music and BBQ on Saturday 31st August 2019.

Lucie Clough is calling on local people and neighbouring villages to come along to the event at Buckden Village Club to help raise vital funds for a cure and to support everyone affected by Parkinson's. There will be a BBQ starting at 3pm by Giggly Pig and live music from a range of pop and rock bands playing throughout the day and evening. Tickets cost £5 and children can come for free. Lucie is organising the event because her father has this heart-breaking condition. The main symptoms of this neurological condition are tremor, slowness of movement, rigidity and apathy, but there are many more symptoms which differ depending on the individual.

Parkinson's is a serious neurological condition for which there is currently no cure, affecting an estimated 145,000 people across the UK.

The money raised from the event will go towards Parkinson's UK's pioneering research to help end Parkinson's forever.

Lucie Clough said:

"Following the huge success of last year's event in October 2019 I wanted this to become an annual event in Buckden. This year we have five bands playing; Star Lizzy, Sixty Something, Lucy Lock, Dreams in Red and Cover Scheme. Food is available on the night from award winning company Giggly Pig and an ice cream van will be on site courtesy of Tony's Desserts and Ice Creams.

This year we also have an amazing raffle and prizes include a meal for two at The Eltisley, Beauty vouchers, punting for 4 in Cambridge and much more!

"Every penny makes a difference and we're hoping to raise double what we raised last year, which was over £1000 which went towards vital research. The event is always a lot of fun, with a great atmosphere, and it's thanks to generous people helping out for free."

Tickets are now on sale at local shop Nisa in Buckden and also the Village Club
