Shakespeare at the George | A Midsummer Night's Dream

Shakespeare at the George | A Midsummer Night's Dream

Mon, 01 Jul 2019 19:00

From 25th June - 6th July 2019 at The George Hotel.

Shakespeare at The George has been performing at The George Hotel in Huntingdon since 1959. The 60th anniversary summer production will be A Midsummer Night's Dream directed by Dean Laccohee.

The production will be performed in the courtyard of The George Hotel. There will be the usual stagetext captioned performance on Tuesday 2nd July. Written in 1596/96, for centuries A Midsummer Night's Dream has been one of Shakespeare's most popular works. Four lovers, having an argument in the Athenian woods at midnight, are confused by fairies who are trying to help. Throw in some magic, a custody battle over a little bot and an amateur actor who unsuspectingly becomes the fairy queen's love interest... oh and a magic set of ass's ears... and there you have it - A Midsummer Night's Dream.

Huntingdonshire History Festival | Rothschild Bungalow Open Day

Huntingdonshire History Festival | Rothschild Bungalow Open Day

Sat, 27 Jul 2019 10:00

In 1910, on the site of an old farmstead and at the heart of the new nature reserve, Charles Rothschild built a bungalow on stilts and used it as a base for his field trips out on the fen. His activities included moth trapping at night and local people were not quite sure what to make of the visitors from London who went out into the fen at night with lanterns...

A wonderful opportunity to visit a site not usually open to the public, no need to book just drop in.

Parking is available at the entrance to Woodwalton Fen by Raverly drain.
