Light up the Night
Wed, 29 Nov 2023
Light Up The Night 2023 - Huntingdon Crematorium
Wednesday 29th November at 6pm
Huntingdon Crematorium will be hosting a Light up the Night Event in November, to support Cruse Bereavement. A memorial service will be held at 6pm followed by light refreshments in the Sapley Lodge and an opportunity to light a candle in remembrance of a loved one.
Light up the Night has been created to give friends and family an opportunity for shared remembrance of loved ones who have died, in a place of unique calm, peace, hope and community.
In many countries, people remember deceased loved ones by visiting cemeteries and graveyards and decorating them with candles and flowers, creating a truly unique atmosphere of peace and calm – such as All Saints Day, All Souls Day, Day of the Dead etc. Although inspired by these religious traditions, Light up the Night is an event where everyone is welcome to come and spend some time remembering or celebrating loved ones.
The first Light up the Night event took place at St Paul's, Bedminster in 2019. Thousands of candles were lit in memory or celebration of a loved one, lighting up the graveyard – creating a rare sense of community, respect and reflection.
During the service there will be a visual tribute. This will take the form of images set to a piece of music. If you would like a picture including in the visual tribute, please email this to huntingdon.crematorium@huntingdontown.gov.uk
There will also be space to have a name or a brief message on screen with the image and if you wish to have this included, please let us know in the email.
Please be aware that due to the length of the tribute, we can only show one image per person and we can only include 40 images in total. This means that we are only in a position to take the first 40 applications that we receive.
