Medway Centre Business Plan

This Community Centre was officially opened in 1979,  towards the end of the major housing development in Huntingdon as a result of the London Overspill Policy of the 1960s.  The original building has been enlarged on a number of occasions and now comprises lounge, main hall, stage, offices, bar, two other meeting rooms and another, recently built smaller hall. To see the up to date hire charges for the Hall click here.

The Medway Centre is licensed to operate 7 days a week from 8.00am to midnight.  The Centre is booked most days by regular groups however, there is availability remaining on most days for the hall, smaller lounge room and meeting room.  The main availability for the hall is on Mondays after 8.15pm; Tuesdays between 8.00am and 4.00pm; Fridays between 11.30am and 7.00pm and after 9.00pm; Saturdays before 5.00pm; most second and fifth Saturdays of the month all day and Sundays after 7.00pm.  The lounge room has availability most weekdays during the morning and most evenings.  During non term time, the availability of all rooms increases so please do phone the centre and check.

For any new groups wishing to hire the Centre on a regular basis, a promotion is currently available so please do phone for details.

Hall

This large hall can accommodate up to 180 people for a seated audience.  The hall is ideal for parties, conferences, large training events, wedding receptions, open days and many other functions.  Due to the lovely wooden floor, the hall is also perfect for dance classes and any other types of exercise classes.  Activities typically in the hall range from bingo and dance to boxing and martial arts.  The hall also has a separate stage area which is used mainly for music equipment at social functions or an area used by dance instructors or speakers at events.

Coffee Bar

The coffee bar is usually hired with the hall as it acts as a nice break-out area for events.  It is fully stocked with tea/coffee making facilities and has nice comfy chairs and tables.  This area can be hired separately or at a discounted rate if booked with the hall.

Lounge

The lounge room can accommodate up to 80 people for a seated audience.  this room is ideal for craft activities and children's activities due to the nature of the flooring.  This room is nice and private and benefits further from its own facilities include a disabled toilet.  The room also has its own coffee bar area where tea/coffee can be made and served from.  Activities typically in the lounge room range from children's activities and craft making session to private training classes and music groups.

The Medway Centre benefits further from having a fully stocked kitchen (including fridge, freezer, double oven and microwave); a small meeting room that can accommodate up to 5 people, 2 large car parks that are free to use for hirers and users of the Centre and very good disabled access.
